"Reveal Your Role in Buhari’s Victory if You Claim Credit" – Amaechi Questions Tinubu’s Influence

Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has dismissed claims by certain individuals that they were instrumental in the emergence of former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Speaking during a recent X Space discussion, Amaechi asserted that Buhari’s presidency was the will of God and the Nigerian electorate, not the result of any single person’s influence.

His remarks appeared to be a veiled reference to Bola Tinubu, who has repeatedly suggested that his political backing was pivotal in Buhari’s victory. During a 2022 campaign stop in Ogun State, Tinubu had implied that his support for Buhari in 2015 entitled him to a reciprocal political gesture in 2023.

Amaechi, however, countered such assertions, stating: “God and the Nigerian people chose Buhari as President, not any individual. If anyone claims responsibility for his victory, they should disclose exactly how much they contributed and what role they played.”

The comment adds to the ongoing political discourse ahead of future elections, with key figures revisiting past alliances and rivalries.

More details to follow.
