This directive implements a proclamation signed by President Donald Trump on December 16th. The order further restricts entry into the United States for citizens of countries deemed high-risk. The White House justification cites what it calls "demonstrated, persistent, and severe deficiencies" in those nations' security screening, vetting protocols, and information-sharing practices, which it states threaten American security and public safety. Nigeria is among 15 new countries facing partial travel restrictions under the updated policy.
