Amaechi Alleges Peter Obi Won Rivers State in 2023 Election, Criticizes Govt

Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has sparked debate by claiming that Labour Party’s Peter Obi won the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State. Speaking in an online discussion, Amaechi stated, “I can agree that Obi won Rivers State,” but questioned how the results were altered.

Official results from INEC declared President Bola Tinubu of the APC the national winner, with the APC securing 231,591 votes in Rivers, LP garnering 175,071, and PDP receiving 88,468. Amaechi’s comments have reignited discussions about the election’s credibility.

In another online session, Amaechi expressed support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, provided the primary is fair. “I’ll fully back the winner and work to remove this ineffective government,” he said. He also dismissed the coastal road project as “a road for corruption,” promising electoral reforms if elected.

Reports suggest former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi may seek ADC’s ticket, raising stakes for the party’s primaries.
