Award-winning Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has expressed strong support for Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, praising his dedication to Nigeria’s progress.
In a recent interview, Adichie highlighted Obi’s humility and clear vision, distinguishing him from other politicians driven by personal ambition.
“He isn’t desperate to be president—he simply wants to serve because he cares about the country,” she said. “That’s a crucial difference. Some seek power for ego, not for genuine change.”
Adichie emphasized that her endorsement stems from her deep love for Nigeria and her belief in the need for principled leadership.
“With the right leader, Nigeria can achieve much more,” she added.
She commended Obi’s accountability and modest approach, noting that he sees leadership as a responsibility rather than a privilege.
“Peter Obi doesn’t expect praise for doing his job. He believes leaders should serve, not dominate,” she stated.
Adichie also praised Obi’s longstanding integrity, saying, “The man I knew years ago remains the same—consistent, honest, and genuinely committed to good governance.”
Her remarks reinforce her confidence in Obi’s leadership qualities amid Nigeria’s political landscape.
