Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has stated that any politician pledging to serve only one term in office should undergo psychiatric assessment.

Soludo made the remark during a rally in Anambra South, where supporters endorsed his bid for a second term. He questioned the logic behind such promises, challenging anyone to provide an example where a leader voluntarily stepped down after a single term.

The governor emphasized that Nigeria’s Constitution permits elected officials to serve up to two terms, dismissing the idea of self-imposed one-term limits as unreasonable.

This comes amid discussions about political promises, particularly referencing Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, who had vowed to serve only one term if elected.
