The Leader of the Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has strongly denounced the government's move to formally recognise the State of Palestine, labelling the decision "absolutely disastrous."
In a public statement, the MP for North West Essex asserted that the action unconditionally rewards Hamas and fails to secure the release of hostages or alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza. She accused the Prime Minister of pursuing the agenda of his party's left wing to consolidate power, suggesting it demonstrates an absence of a coherent national strategy.
Badenoch framed the recognition as part of a wider trend of the government addressing secondary issues instead of core domestic challenges. She claimed that rather than repairing the National Health Service, the government promotes assisted suicide; instead of creating youth employment, it extends voting rights to 16-year-olds; and instead of managing immigration, it chooses to recognise Palestine.
