Renowned poet, Olanrewaju Adepoju, has passed away
Chief Olanrewaju Adepoju, a respected poet, music producer, and advocate for Yoruba culture, has died. Vanguard has reliably verified that the well-known artist passed away at his residence in Idi Orogbo, off Ring Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, around 7 p.m. on Sunday, following an extended illness associated with old age. A family source affirmed that Chief Adepoju's exact age cannot be officially stated at this time, stating, "Our father's age cannot be officially quoted yet until we go through his records."
"But his peers are 100 years old and above."
The late and esteemed 'ewi exponent,' known for composing numerous works addressing societal issues and critiquing political military interventions, reportedly never underwent formal education in a classroom.
Vanguard has confirmed that the revered Islamic cleric will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites on Monday at 4 p.m.
