Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away in London, as confirmed by his close associate, Bashir Ahmad, in a social media post.
Ahmad shared the news on platform X, stating: "The family of the former president has confirmed his demise this afternoon at a medical facility in London. May Allah grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amen."
Buhari, who governed Nigeria as a civilian president from 2015 to 2023, had earlier ruled the nation as a military leader from 1983 to 1985. His tenure was marked by anti-corruption campaigns and economic reforms.
The family is expected to release details regarding his funeral proceedings, which will follow Islamic traditions.
