Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, the lawmaker representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, has demonstrated exceptional dedication to public service, particularly in empowering students and youth. As Chairman of the House Committee on Renewable Energy and leader of the Anambra Caucus in the House of Representatives, he has redefined leadership through his people-centered approach.
Contrary to widespread skepticism about accessibility to the National Assembly, Hon. Ogene warmly welcomed students from Anambra State, ensuring a seamless tour of the complex. He provided refreshments, arranged a guided tour, and personally engaged with the students, offering insights into legislative processes. His commitment to education is evident in his sponsorship of key bills, including amendments to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act and the establishment of the Federal School of Fisheries in Ogbaru.
Beyond legislation, Hon. Ogene has made significant strides in supporting education. He has awarded full scholarships to 30 undergraduates and covered examination fees for over 200 students. To ensure transparency, he established the Hon. Afam Ogene Education Board to oversee scholarship programs, emphasizing that "Students and children are our hope, our strength, and our future."
As Chairman of the Anambra Caucus, he facilitated meaningful interactions between students and other lawmakers, reinforcing his belief in youth empowerment.
