The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has taken into custody Emami Ajetsibogho, also known as "Warri Kinsman," for allegedly smuggling 414.2 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
Sources reveal that Ajetsibogho, the younger brother of well-known Niger Delta figure and politician Chief Ayiri Emami, was detained on June 25, 2025, by NDLEA operatives in Lagos. The illicit substance was reportedly hidden in multiple bags wrapped in white and black nylon.
Ajetsibogho, a prominent figure in Warri South, has reportedly avoided arrest on previous occasions. However, concerns have been raised over the NDLEA’s handling of the case, with insiders suggesting that the agency may be delaying public disclosure due to his family connections.
“The NDLEA is keeping Ajetsibogho’s arrest quiet because of his brother’s influence,” a source claimed. “Unlike other high-profile arrests, they have not officially announced this one.”
As investigations continue, the suspect remains in NDLEA custody. Efforts to reach the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, for comment were unsuccessful.
In related news, President Bola Tinubu recently praised Chief Ayiri Emami for his contributions to national development, particularly in fostering peace and safeguarding oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta. The president also acknowledged Emami’s support for his administration.
Chief Emami, a businessman and philanthropist, celebrated his 50th birthday in April, receiving commendations for his role in strengthening the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
