Dr. Okeke Chika Jerry, the gubernatorial candidate of the Boot Party in the upcoming Anambra State election, has issued a stark ultimatum to Governor Chukwuma Soludo: either seek divine intervention or resign from office.
The call comes in the wake of a recent incident in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, where a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member was allegedly assaulted by operatives of the state-backed security outfit, Anambra Vigilante Group. Dr. Jerry pointed to this event as symptomatic of a broader breakdown of security and spiritual protection under the current administration.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Boot Party candidate argued that despite Governor Soludo's infrastructural initiatives and "good intentions," his government is plagued by a lack of divine grace. "A lot of evil spirits are fighting his government," Jerry stated, claiming that "unforeseen ugly circumstances" continue to jeopardize the state's progress.
Jerry listed a series of tragic and unresolved security incidents, including killings in Nibo, Ihiala, and Ebenebe, the beheading of lawmaker Hon. Okey Di Okay, and the mysterious disappearance of his former electoral opponent, Labour Party's Obiorah Agbasimalo. He questioned why these events were occurring under the governor's watch without adequate resolution or justice for the victims.
"The blood of the innocent is crying out, and their spirits are fighting this government," Jerry claimed. "In a civilized country, this volume of failure would call for a resignation."
The candidate drew biblical parallels, suggesting the administration's challenges are a sign of withdrawn divine favor. He urged Governor Soludo to "go back to God in prayers" to seek wisdom, grace, and favor for the sake of the people he leads.
Shifting to the political arena, Jerry condemned the practices of vote-buying and partisan loyalty, calling on voters to "listen to their conscience" in the next election. He positioned himself and the Boot Party as the moral and pragmatic alternative, campaigning on a platform of security, justice, and divinely guided leadership.
"As a prophet, not just a politician, I warn that if the governor fails to act, these circumstances will mar his re-election and bring greater turmoil to Anambra," he concluded.
As of press time, the Governor's office has not issued a formal response to Dr. Jerry's statements. However, following the Oba incident, the state government previously announced the dismissal of eight vigilante operatives and their handover to the police for prosecution.
