A faction of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing has called for the immediate dissolution of Anambra State’s security outfit, following a widely circulated video showing its armed operatives assaulting a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
The group, which identifies Mazi Okwu Nnabuike as its President General, issued a statement condemning the incident involving corps member Jennifer Elobor. The statement described the outfit, known as Udo Ga-Achi, as a long-standing menace, accusing its personnel of repeated human rights violations and acts of jungle justice.
The faction urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to disband the current unit and initiate a new, transparent recruitment process. Their demands include comprehensive training and mandatory drug testing for all new operatives to prevent a recurrence of such misconduct.
Furthermore, the group insists that the perpetrators must face a public trial without protection and that the Anambra State Government should provide adequate compensation to the victim.
