Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has expressed strong confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the 2027 general elections, regardless of any political strategies or appointments made by the current administration.
Speaking in an interview monitored in Jos, Plateau State, Dalung dismissed speculation about potential high-profile appointments within the government, stating that even if President Bola Tinubu were to appoint his son as the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and his wife as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), the APC would still face defeat.
According to Dalung, his prediction is based on the current political climate and the performance of the Tinubu-led government. He accused the administration of worsening economic hardship, promoting injustice, and failing the Nigerian people.
He urged citizens to prepare for the 2027 elections, stating that the government’s policies have created a clear divide between the leadership and the people. Dalung called for support for a coalition movement aimed at challenging the ruling party in the next election cycle.
The former minister, who recently left the APC for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), criticized the ruling party as a gathering of individuals seeking political protection rather than serving the people. He warned that the increasing defections into the APC could weaken the party’s stability due to a lack of ideological unity.
