Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in London to oversee the return of former President Muhammadu Buhari's body to Nigeria for burial. The trip follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's
directive, with Shettima being joined by the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Upon arrival, the Vice President was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum. Shettima confirmed that his mission is to escort the late leader's remains back to Nigeria, where he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
The former president passed away in London after battling a prolonged illness. The federal government is making arrangements for a state funeral, with further details to be announced in due course.
Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria with the body ahead of the burial ceremonies, which will be attended by dignitaries and government officials. The nation continues to mourn the loss of the former leader, with tributes pouring in from across the country.
