Father of Ukpo Nwamini David Dies Amid Prolonged Separation from Son

The father of Ukpo Nwamini David, the young man at the center of the organ trafficking case involving Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has reportedly passed away due to heartbreak after years of being unable to see his son. The tragic news was confirmed by one of his sons, Boniface Nwamini Ukpo, on Monday.

Boniface revealed that their father had been unwell since the 2022 incident and succumbed to his condition on Sunday afternoon. He expressed deep sorrow over the family's inability to communicate with David since the controversy began.

In 2023, Senator Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, and their doctor, Obinna Obeta, were convicted by a UK court for orchestrating an illegal organ harvest. The trio had arranged for David to be transported from Lagos to the UK for a kidney transplant intended for the senator’s ailing daughter.

Ekweremadu received a nine-year, eight-month sentence, while his wife was jailed for four years and six months. Obeta, identified as the intermediary, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Further updates will follow as the story develops.
