Former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has stated that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, would not have emerged winner even if he had secured up to 10 million votes.
Speaking during a recent podcast, the former minister, who served under the Muhammadu Buhari administration, explained that Obi failed to meet the constitutional requirement of obtaining at least 25 per cent of votes cast in no fewer than 25 states.
Mohammed further claimed that available records showed the Labour Party candidate was unable to deploy polling agents to approximately 40,000 polling units nationwide, a factor he said further weakened Obi’s electoral standing.
